When do I need primary care services?
Even when you’re in good health, you may still need to come into our office for annual physicals. Physicals are essential to ensuring your body is functioning properly and to monitor any potential changes that may be early signs of a health concern.
In addition to physicals, we also offer regular women’s and men’s preventative health screenings and exams. Preventive care is important to keeping you healthy and lowering your risk for potential infections and diseases.

School & Jobs Physicals
At Heart 2 Heart Care Clinic, we are proud to provide school and daycare physicals when your little ones are headed to school.
During these routine “well child check-ups” we will address your child’s health history and overall well being. We will do a complete physical exam, order any necessary or routine lab tests, perform immunizations as needed, and will perform screenings for vision, hearing, behavior, and development. We also like to take these physicals as an opportunity to educate parents on how to best keep their child healthy and safe.
We encourage you to check with your child’s school or daycare before your appointment to ensure that we complete any necessary paperwork and immunizations for your particular circumstance. Please bring any applicable forms or documents with you to your appointment.

DOT Physicals
Many states require commercial drivers to take a specialized physical examination designed to establish the driver has the physical ability to safely perform the duties of a professional driver. The specifics of the exam may vary from one state to another, but the basics are the same. Those who seek to obtain or maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) must take and pass the test in order to receive a passing Medical Examination Report (MER), and certificate.
-
-
- Operate a vehicle holding nine or more passengers
- Cover a distance of 75 miles or greater
- Provide transport for interstate commerce
- Operate a vehicle approximating 10,000 or more loaded pounds
- Transport hazardous materials
-
Commercial Driver’s License Restrictions
The Department of Transportation prohibits persons with the following conditions from possessing a CDL;
-
-
- Requires insulin injection for diabetes
- Less than 20/40 correctable vision in both eyes
- Uses habit forming narcotics or amphetamines
-
Additional restrictions include, but are not limited to;
Brain injury or neurological disorder, Epilepsy and seizures, Hearing loss, Heart disease, Impaired vision, Kidney disease, Digestive disorders, Psychiatric disorders, Dizziness or fainting, Paralysis, Stroke, Missing limbs, Spinal cord injury, Chronic pain. Persons exhibiting these or similar signs cannot be granted a Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC) to qualify for their CDL.
You will answer a series of questions to verify that you do not have any condition which might preclude you from obtaining your CDL. Answering any of those questions dishonestly can lead to serious legal consequences.
What to Expect During Your DOT Exam
A qualified medical examiner will perform your examination as required by law. Your medical history will be reviewed, and you will be asked to list any drugs you currently take. Your examiner will also perform the following tests;
-
-
- Blood pressure test
- Vision test
- Eye, throat, mouth, and ear examination
- Aural heart and lung examination
- Check for deformities of the spine
- Neurological examination
- Check for abdominal abnormalities
- Hernia check
-
After these physical examinations are complete, your care provider will discuss any hazards that may be created by your personal health history and any current medical conditions you may have. Any present hazards will be documented and used to determine whether or not you meet the standards required to receive an MEC.
If your care provider determines that you do meet the qualifications, you will be given an MEC and will not have to take another DOT exam for two years. After two years, you will be required to take the exam again in order to keep your CDL. Some medical examiners will give an examination that is good for three months, six months, or one year. Your healthcare provider will also make a note of whether or not you wear glasses or contact lenses to correct your vision. Those who do not meet the standards cannot be given a medical certificate for their CDL licensing requirements.
Heart 2 Heart Care Clinic now offers DOT approved Medical Examination and certification in a private and comfortable setting. If you require a DOT exam to obtain or renew your CDL, representatives are standing by to schedule an appointment.

Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are safe, gel-like injectable substances that smooth creases, fine lines, and wrinkles to rejuvenate your skin and add volume and fullness to your face. Dermal fillers can be used to enhance your lips, fill your cheeks, straighten out your jawline, soften grooves underneath your eyes, and many other cosmetic alterations to reduce the visible effects of aging. Dermal fillers do not fill in wrinkles but rather add volume to the desired area in order to reduce the appearance of wrinkles in your skin.
Most dermal fillers last between six and 12 months before they are absorbed back into the skin and the results start to fade. Typically, most FDA-approved dermal fillers are also infused with lidocaine to help minimize discomfort during and after treatment. Injecting cosmetic dermal fillers only takes a short amount of time to complete, and most patients are able to return to their normal activities immediately after treatment.
